Teaching Artist Dianne Legro is a lifelong singer, leadership trainer and master teaching artist at arts centers, colleges and universities, high schools and primary schools, and service organizations. She is an author, lecturer, and professional motivational presenter nationwide and in Europe. In her Artist Residencies, she sings in 12 languages, tells multicultural stories, and uses humorous anecdotes to teach and to speak to the human condition. Corporate/Government Keynote Lecturer Dianne is also a popular presenter at Government and Corporate Events. She is most appreciated for her personal style in offering innovative training workshops and seminars on creativity and leadership at companies like Starbucks, GE, Johnson’s Wax and McDonnell Douglass. By fusing together her two skills for performance and leadership, she has found a powerful way for participants to gain new insights. Dianne always draws upon her own creative path and deep knowing as an artist to ask good questions and tell good stories. Concert & Cabaret Performer The third Major area of Dianne's creative life is as a concert and cabaret singer. Dianne “walks her walk and talks her talk” by writing and performing her own one-woman shows in theaters and cabarets in New York City and Los Angeles.
Her musical pedigree gives her a special place in classical/crossover performing today. She attended The New England Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School both on full scholarship. Her classical training was further enhanced by The Bel Canto Foundation who awarded her a scholarship to live in Italy and study with the great soprano Renata Tebaldi. While there, she studied with master vocal coaches at La Scala and performed at opera concerts in major cities.
Dianne's love of cabaret allowed her to study at the Eugene O'Neill Theater center as a summer fellow at the Cabaret Symposium. There, she worked with renowned artists Margaret Whiting and Julie Wilson on the art of cabaret intimacy. (more on concert performances OR performance schedule)
Non-Profit Service Work Dianne receives regular funding from The New York State Council for the Arts and other corporate sponsors for her innovative work in leadership and the arts. For the past 15 years, Dianne has been a principal performer and project designer at Creative Leaps International, and has been instrumental in building this successful non-profit “Arts in Education” company and representing its mission in the world.
Because of her extensive background and impeccable credibility, Dianne is winner of many prizes and awards including a Rockefeller Grant, Presser Music Publishing Project Underwriting, and Fellowships to The Aspen Music Festival.
